It’s been little over a month since Facebook started testing Instagram Reels on the FB app. Well, the wait is now over as Instagram reels now comes to Facebook.
In a blog publication, dated 2 days back, Facebook announced that Instagram Reels would now be available to iOS and Android users in the United States. The company confirmed the same via an official news statement.
“Today we’re launching Reels on Facebook for iOS and Android in the US. We’re bringing short form, entertaining video experiences and tools that have inspired creators on Instagram to more creators and audiences on the Facebook app,” Facebook stated in a news release.
What are Instagram Reels?
For those of you who are unaware of IG reels, honestly it’s quite surprising, but, no worries, here are some quick facts.
Instagram Reels were launched on August 2020, taking inspiration from the much popular Tik-Tok. Reels invites you to create fun videos to share with your friends or anyone on Instagram. Record and edit 15-second multi-clip videos with audio, effects, and new creative tools. You can share reels with your followers on Feed, and, if you have a public account, make them available to the wider Instagram community through a new space in Explore. Reels in Explore offers anyone the chance to become a creator on Instagram and reach new audiences on a global stage.
Will Instagram reels on FB have creator incentives?
Good news, Yes! The company has also unveiled its Reels Play invite-only program, which will pay creators based on the performance of Reels on both Instagram and Facebook. The program is a part of Facebook’s $1 billion initiative for creators and follows Instagram’s “Reels Summer” bonus.

As of now the feature is only available to users in US; hoping that it will be extended to other regions soon.
