Instagram is working on a separate app that will cater to kids under 13 years.
The ongoing pandemic has forced the children to stay at home, with less social media apps at their disposal. Kids are increasingly asking their parents if they can join apps that help them keep connected with their friends. Hence, this move.
When will Instagram roll out this app?
The social giant hasn’t released the details yet. However, as per the tweet they are working on it and the beta version might get rolled out – we don’t know when!
What do you think of this app for kids?
a) Will it provide the kids more exposure that would increase their learning curve, or
b) such a move would be seen as further encouraging the use of social networks especially at a dangerously formative stage in children’s development. There’s also the risk of these kids growing up hooked on such services and platforms.
