ย The app has already been pulled from both Apple’s App Store and Google Play and Periscope’s official Twitter account made the announcement of their “final goodbye” on 30th March, as well.

“This is it. Our final goodbye. Today is the last day the Periscope app will be available,” the post reads. “We leave you with our gratitude for all the creators and viewers who brighten the Periscope community. We hope to see you all live on Twitter.”

Why has PERISCOPE shut down?

The reason for putting an end to the service was the stalled growth. In India, many were even unaware of the service, and with the introduction of live feature on most social media platforms, an app dedicated to live video streaming wasnโ€™t actually required.

The video broadcasting app has seen better days. However, with the induction of FB live and Insta live, most of the users on the original app have become redundant, and maybe switched to other platforms for vide-broadcasting.

Hence, Twitter finally made the decision to shut down the app and focus on development of the platform, Twitter.

Maybe thats the reason Twitter wants to let go of the redundant platforms focus energies on its own platform.
