Pinterest is expanding it’s in-app collage tools, with two new interactive collage options: “Collage Remixing” and “Collage Sharing.”
Collage creation on Pinterest enables users to digitally cut objects out of any Pin, then combine them with other cutouts to create interactive images.
As you can see in this example below, once items are entered into a collage, they remain individually identifiable as products, providing another creative option that also helps to promote items in the app.
First off, on remixing. As it sounds, Collage Remixes will enable users to collaborate and build upon or edit existing collages in the app, as a means to expand on the original layout.
As you can see in this example above, users will be able to re-do collages to create their own take on the same, with a tag in the lower left corner pointing to the original collage creator.
It will also be facilitated by improved collage sharing, with Pinners now able to download their collages into videos, that they can then share on other platforms.
These are good updates to help encourage more engagement with the format, which has proven popular in the app, particularly among Gen Z users.
