A few days ago, Facebook started a drive to claim down false COVID-19 vaccine claims.

Now, it has accelerated further and will soon start reaching out to people who have liked, commented or shared false information regarding COVID-19 on its platform.

How FACEBOOK will reach out to people?

Facebook will be sending notifications to people which would contain information regarding the post, which most likely has been removed from the platform and will also provide a link to useful resources to the people. This will be helpful in spreading the right information regarding COVID-19 and its vaccine to the users of the social media giant.

As of now, Facebook has not yet revealed the exact verbiage of the notification.

Will false COVID-19 information be corrected?

No, any false information on COVID-19 and related resources would be not be corrected, but removed from the platform. FB abd several other platforms, including google have been removing misinformation on their respective platforms. The drive initially started in April 2020, wherein, these websites were warning their users to stop spreading rumours or misinformation about the pandemic, but that did not work well.

Finally, the step to remove the rumours has been taken.
