Cross Posting Between Facebook And Threads

Cross Posting Between Facebook And Threads

Meta is testing an interesting update – Cross Posting between Facebook and Threads.

This week, Meta has begun a new test or cross-posting between Facebook and Threads, with some users now being promoted to share their Facebook updates to the new, Twitter-like app.

Firstly, let’s understand what is cross-posting?

Cross-posting between two social media platforms refers to the practice of sharing the same content or message simultaneously on multiple platforms. Instead of creating separate posts tailored for each platform, users can streamline their content distribution process by posting once and having it appear on multiple platforms at once.

For example, someone might create a post on Instagram and choose to have it automatically shared on their connected Facebook and Twitter accounts. This allows them to reach their audience across different platforms without manually creating and posting the same content multiple times.

Cross-posting can be beneficial for saving time and effort, ensuring consistent messaging across platforms, and reaching a wider audience. However, it’s important to consider the unique characteristics and audience preferences of each platform to optimize engagement and effectiveness.

As you can see in this example below, posted by app researcher Ljiljana Grujicic, those in the test pool are now seeing a toggle to turn on Threads cross-posting. Meta has confirmed to TechCrunch that the option is in limited testing on iOS, and will apply to text and link posts (not, apparently, video updates).

The test is part of the broader cross-pollination of content that Meta’s looking to facilitate, with users already able to cross-post between IG and Facebook. Threads updates are also easily re-shared to Instagram (and vice versa), while Facebook also has a Threads highlights unit that it’s been jamming into Facebook feeds.

Cross-posting wasn’t the only area where Facebook is testing new features. Grujicic also shared a photo on LinkedIn that showed a test of a “Write with AI” writing assistant that could help users craft their posts.

Cross Posting Between Facebook And Threads is in Beta phase currently with no updates when it will be rolled out.
