By the way, Facebook reels aren’t new – It’s already available to some users. However, starting today, Facebook reels is expanding to 150 more regions, covering almost the complete globe. This once again reminds us of the mammoth reach of Facebook as a social media platform.

What Meta said about Facebook Reels –

Meta launched Reels on Instagram in 2020 and on Facebook in 2021 as its answer to the explosively popular short-video app TikTok, which is owned by Chinese tech giant ByteDance.

“Reels is already our fastest growing content format by far, and today we’re making it available to everyone on Facebook globally,” Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a Facebook post on Tuesday.

Lastly, Meta also announced monetisation features for Facebook Reels creators. The company said that it is expanding its Reels Pay Bonus program, as a part of which it pays up to $35,000 (Rs 26,14,692 approximately) to the qualifying reels to more countries.

Facebook is also adding more features to Reels. The social network is allowing users to “remix” a Facebook Reel so they can record a video alongside another user’s video like TikTok’s Duet feature. They can share Reels to other formats on Facebook, including Stories that vanish in 24 hours. Facebook users will be able to watch Reels from the social network’s video hub Watch. The company said it was exploring a way for creators to cross post Reels on Facebook and Instagram.
