Instagram tags were originally available only to approved creators, but now every Instagram user who wants to expand their business via the social media platform can use tags in their feed posts, using which the targeted consumers can shop from a particular business profile on Instagram, directly fro the platform.
Once the business tag is clicked, the user is redirected the the merchant’s website and view all products and make purchases from the web portal. Have a look at the screenshot below –

People come to Instagram to share and discover trends and inspiration. Product tagging will make it possible for anyone to support their favourite small businesses, share how they styled their looks along with the products they used, and more.”
This move will surely help merchants on Instagram boost their product visibility, bring in more traffic to their website and increase sales revenue, by directly running targeted ads on Instagram, and using Instagram Tags.
Business owners will receive a notification when someone tags one of their products, while they’ll also be able to view all tagged content on their profile.
Another smart move by Instagram relates to re-sellers on the social media platform. Let’s say a reseller has tagged your products, without your prior consent on the pricing or any other parameter. A merchant can would be able to control who can tag their products, while they’ll be able to remove tags of their items and brand if they choose.
Instagram says that over 1.6 million users tag at least one brand, on average, each week already, which would suggest that the added capacity to more specifically tag each product will be an appealing and highly utilised element – which could actually keep the main Instagram feed relevant for a little longer, if it works out.
