Be careful while surfing job offers on LinkedIn

LinkedIn

LinkedIn, one of the best professional social media platform was recently in news for the unfortunate data leak. Now, here comes a double whammy – Hackers are hiding malware in fake LinkedIn job offers to trick people into downloading the backdoor trojan and infect their device.

Here’s how the malware attacks – just an example – if the LinkedIn member’s job is listed as Sales Manager — Regional Sales, the malicious zip file would be titled Sales Manager — Regional Sales position (note the “position” added to the end). Upon opening the fake job offer, the victim unwittingly initiates the stealthy installation of the file-less backdoor, more_eggs. Once loaded, the sophisticated backdoor can download additional malicious plugins and provide hands-on access to the victim’s computer.

Be cautious while searching LinkedIn job offers.

In case you notice the word “position” after a job offer, please avoid clicking on that link, and even if you click, do not download any file.
