LinkedIn has shared the labour market data, which states that competition is jobs is rising year by year. On the contrary, recruiter market has shown a rise of only 12% in 2020, as compared to 2019. In simple terms, more people have been entering the job market as compared to recruiters, which clearly means that unemployment is on the rise.

Much of this deficit in recruitment can be blamed on the COVID-19 pandemic. LinkedIn in a report said that candidates from Retail, Travel Industry, Recreation, and likewise are more likely to look for jobs outside their domain as these industries are worst hit due to the ongoing pandemic.

In the wake of this, LinkedIn has also launched ‘Career Explorer’ tool to help candidates find the right job during these tough times. Also, it aims to help the fresh talent in the market.

In these unprecedented times, a record 12.2 crore Indians have lost their jobs, since the lockdown began in April 2020. Even though the unlock has happened in phases, but the recruitment drive is yet to pick up.
