Not everyone fancies a video along with music! Keeping this in mind, YouTube music is set to introduce new features to it’s music platform, YouTube Music.
The upcoming changes will allow background listening for unpaid users, but video limit playback to premium users.
Google owned platform is planning to shift it’s platform YouTube music to an audio-only experience.
The schedule change will come into place in Canada first, starting November 3rd, 2021. Why did they choose Canada, we are clueless, but, seems like there’s a big market for YouTube Music in Canada. Also, Google hasn’t yet disclosed the details of further rollout.
Currently, unpaid YouTube Music users do not have the ability to listen to a track in the background (when they move to another app on their phone, for example) or when their device is locked, limiting the utility of the app, particularly when listening on the go.
Now YouTube Music is coming up with 2 changes here –
- Allowing background listening for unpaid users, but,
- removing the ability to watch videos in the app for unpaid users.
Seems like you have forgo something in return of some other thing!
A community manager at Google, explains it this this way –
- Listen to music in the background,
- play personalised mixes,
- find the perfect mood mixes for varied activities like workouts, meditation, and more,
- explore millions and thousands of playlists for free.
Meanwhile, paid or premium subscribers will continue to enjoy ad free music, listen to songs on demand, and skip a song whenever they want.
The experience for free users will now be much similar to radio. But, don’t worry, even though you can’t view videos on the YouTube music app, if you are a free user, you will still have the option of listening to music along with video on the regular YouTube app.
With all these features, you should definitely check out this cool platform today and enjoy thousands of playlists for every mood. We have shared a link below to access the platform.
