The ‘milk crate challenge’, an injurious new trend that brings back memories of the equally regrettable ‘tide pod challenge’, has swept social media in the US and left doctors concerned.
What is ‘Milk Crate Challenge’?
WARNING – PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS, WITH OR WITHOUT SUPERVISION, WHATSOEVER!
The viral task involves stacking milk crates into a pyramid-shaped wall, then trying to climb to the top from one side and proceeding to descend towards the other while balancing the crates underneath–most often ending in funny but dangerous falls.

The trend became viral, especially in United States in the month of August on platforms like TikTok, Facebook and Twitter.
Because of the instability of the milk crates, the challenge ends up in most people tumbling down, and doctors are now calling it a public health hazard because of the swelling number of people coming to emergency rooms to treat injuries from the task.
At a time when hospitals are. more focussed on treating patients from Delta variant, Milk crate challenge is doing nothing good, except adding an extra burden to the already over burdened health care services.
‘Milk Crate Challenge’ has been removed from TikTok, but remains on FB.
Indeed, searching for the hashtag in its most basic form on TikTok right now brings you to a page explaining that whatever lived there before violated the app’s content guidelines and thus had to be purged.
“TikTok prohibits content that promotes or glorifies dangerous acts, and we remove videos and redirect searches to our Community Guidelines to discourage such content,” a TikTok spokesperson said in a statement. “We encourage everyone to exercise caution in their behavior whether online or off.”
Once again, do not try Milk Crate Challenge.
