The instant messaging app, Signal is testing a new feature that would allow users to transfer cryptocurrency to their friends via the app. To make this possible, the app is adding the ability to pay in a cryptocurrency known as MobileCoin.
It will launch first for users in the UK who are using the beta version of the mobile app.
So far, this is the only instant messaging app to offer complete end-to-end encryption, which means that not even the provider can read your messages. However, adding a payment transfer feature to app, might leave some users apprehensive since they will be transfer the money via their debit card or credit card, which could leave a financial trail.
To overcome this issue, the instant messaging app has tied up MobileCoin, which is designed to encrypt all transactions made with the cryptocurrency. As a result, only the sender and recipient of payment should be able to track the transaction.
SIGNAL app downloads grew in India by over 9,483% amid new WhatsApp privacy policy!
