WhatsApp has made it crystal clear in its communication that it will not allow Taliban to employ its services to coordinate any kind of administrative roles. The Facebook owned platform has indeed shut many hotlines set up by Taliban.
The number was supposed to serve as a hotline for civilians to report violence, looting or other issues. The Taliban announced the hotline on Sunday when they captured the city and resorted to the use of similar WhatsApp hotlines in the past, such as when they took control of Kunduz town in 2016.

“The Taliban is sanctioned as a terrorist organization under U.S. law and they are banned from our services under our Dangerous Organization policies,” said Facebook in a statement. “This means we remove accounts maintained by or on behalf of the Taliban and prohibit praise, support, and representation of them.”
FB further said that it is actively scanning profiles and removing profiles that may seem to aggravate the ongoing scenario.
