Twitter Brings Picture In Picture On iOS

Picture In Picture

Twitter is gradually rolling out a new feature (Picture In Picture) on the iOS version of the app that lets you watch videos while using other apps.

Twitter owner Elon Musk recently introduced ‘a reading limit’ policy aimed at limiting the number of tweets a user can read every day. While users are arguing about the newly imposed daily limit, Twitter developers seem to be quietly rolling out support for picture-in-picture mode for iOS.

According to a video shared by iSoftware Updates on Twitter, playing a video in the app and going to the home screen by swiping up keeps the video playing, similar to how the functionality works with apps like YouTube and WhatsApp.

Whats Is Picture In Picture?

Picture-in-Picture (PiP) is a feature that allows users to watch videos or view content in a smaller window while simultaneously performing other tasks on their device. It enables multitasking by overlaying a smaller video or content window on top of other applications or the device’s home screen.

When using PiP, the primary content, such as a video, is minimized and displayed in a small, movable window. This window can be resized, repositioned, or even hidden temporarily, giving users the flexibility to continue watching or monitoring the content while interacting with other apps or performing different activities on their device.

Picture-in-Picture is commonly used in video streaming platforms, video calling applications, and other media playback services. It allows users to keep an eye on a video or ongoing content while browsing the web, checking emails, or using other apps. The PiP window typically remains visible and accessible, even when switching between apps or navigating through the device’s interface.

The exact implementation and functionality of Picture-in-Picture may vary depending on the device and operating system. However, the core purpose remains consistent, offering users a convenient way to multitask and enhance their productivity without interrupting their video or content viewing experience.
