Twitter has suspended over 70,000 accounts today to clamp down on QAnon-associated posts that have ‘the potential to lead to offline harm’
What is QAnon?
At its heart, QAnon is a wide-ranging, completely unfounded theory that says that President Trump is waging a secret war against elite Satan-worshipping paedophiles in government, business and the media.
QAnon believers have speculated that this fight will lead to a day of reckoning where prominent people such as former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton will be arrested and executed.
Why did Twitter suspend accounts?
“It’s important that these types of accounts — that are not predominantly engaged in sharing this material — can see different perspectives in the open public conversation that Twitter uniquely provides,” wrote the social media platform.
