YouTube Shorts, The New TikTok Competitor is Here – 735 crores to be distributed among creators!

YouTube Shorts

YouTube Shorts is the next new thing in short-form video. YouTube Shorts is akin to Instagram Reels and TikTok.

Since the ban of TikTok and other 69 Chinese apps on June 29, 2020, developers have been looking for ways to create such platforms, inspired by the original TikTok. The very first such platform in India was Instagram Reels, and now, there’s a new competitor – YouTube Shorts.

The only difference between TikTok and YouTube Shorts is that the latter does not have a dedicated app. You can access the service from within your YouTube app.

What is YouTube Shorts?

YouTube Shorts is basically the platform’s attempt to take on TikTok, the hugely popular short-form video app.

Also, YouTube on Tuesday announced a $100 million (roughly Rs. 735 crores) fund to pay content creators who make hit videos on its new short-form video feature Shorts, as YouTube aims to court more influencers.

Here’s what the tweet read –

How to use YT Shorts?

To use it, just open up the YouTube app you already have on your smartphone. Scroll down slightly, and you’ll see a “Shorts” section.

As of now, the app is lacking a plethora of video editing features that were available on the competitors platform, TikTok, but with nearly 735 crore reserved to be distributed among creators who gather numerous views, the small drawbacks of the new feature doesn’t hurt much.
