For a future update, WhatsApp is working on avatars in video calls.
It’s roling out a new update through the Google Play Beta Program, bringing the version up to 2.22.15.5.
As tweeted by WaBetaInfo,
In 2017, WhatsApp released its own emoji set on WhatsApp beta for Android, and it seems it’s not the only thing the company wants to create a replacement for. In fact, WhatsApp is planning to introduce the ability to let people use an avatar during video calls for a long time: it seems that the company is internally working on its own Memoji/Bitmoji alternate set since March, and we can finally show something about today!
Look at the screenshot below –
In fact, we will be able to set up our own avatar by launching the “Avatar Editor”, a proper section where we can customize the avatar: when it is configured, we will finally be able to send avatar stickers.
Avatars In Video Calls are currently under development only for Android users.
