TikTok like short video format, YouTube Shorts has announced expansion with users in the UK, Canada and Latin America to be able to access the full suite of Shorts tools.
What is YouTube Shorts?
YouTube Shorts is basically the platform’s attempt to take on TikTok, the hugely popular short-form video app.
Both Shorts feed and YouTube Shorts camera would be made available in the app for more users from this week, while YouTube also continues to expand on its music availability in the app, providing more ways for Shorts users to create themed, trending clips based on the latest tracks.
YouTube has also recently reported over $4 billion for the music industry last year. With a vision to further expand its vertical, expansion of Shorts will help to lean into this behaviour, and boost usage of the option, which YouTube clearly sees significant potential in moving forward.
As a matter of fact, YouTube reported 49% jump in Ad Revenue as video consumption behaviours are evolving, which translates that that Shorts is now up to 6.5 billion daily views, up from 3.5 billion at the end of 2020.
YouTube Shorts has also published a report which depicts some key data.
In addition to this, YouTube has added in other features since it launched. For example, it now lets creators add text, captions and graphics overlays on Shorts videos; sample audio from other Shorts; clips from your phone’s gallery; and filters for color correction — a template that will be expanded with more effects over time, YouTube said.
